A New Day

‘You okay Sarah?’ Tony asked.

A year after the crash, and I had a lot to be thankful for. I miss Graham, but he is always with me. He would have been pleased at my choice of job. It didn’t have the allure of the big city, but I love living in St Ives.

‘You are my eyes Tony, what is the match like?’

‘Good, some of the players are better than our England team,’ he says.

I smiled, but then our women’s team were brilliant, maybe the men could follow their example. My life took an unexpected turn, and for the first time in my life, there was no guilt.

What happened, I will always keep with me. My husband, I will never forget. He would have wanted me to move on with my life. Working in St Ives, in a small newspaper, felt right.

Tony, Barbara, and Mike, new friends, a fresh start without pain.

I am a fifty something mother of two grown up children, and one beautiful grandchild. I have been married for nearly thirty-four years. My first book was published ten years ago. I wrote my book Sticks and Stones because of my experience of being bullied at school.
