‘I don’t understand, what is the relevance of this conversation.’
‘Dad, it’s just, you said, I couldn’t go out tonight, cause I’m grounded. But my mate called me, said there was homework club on. I haven’t done all my homework, surely you want me to have an education.’
‘You are right, school is important, but today is Saturday. Nobody will be at school, will they? So, I am asking you again, what is the relevance? I said you were grounded because you were late home last night.’
‘It’s a . . . school said they will open for any students who wanted to finish any work. Please, it is my education you are ruining.’
‘What I am ruining, is your day out with your friend. It is a beautiful day to go on your bike. No, if you are so keen to do your homework, I will do it with you.’
‘You’re so unfair! All my mates are going, and I’ll be the only.’
‘Wow, school will be busy. Look how about we spend the day together. I could help you with your homework. If that is done, you can help me in the garden. If we finish, then I will think about you going out tomorrow.’
Alan frowned, he wasn’t going fool his dad, but if he did as he was told, then tomorrow was going to be a nice day. ‘Alright Dad, but can I have something to eat, I’m starving, and I can’t do homework on an empty stomach.’
‘How about one of my world famous burgers.’
‘Yea, then you can help me with my algebra.’
A smart dad.
