Impervious
Impervious to the weather, Daisy rushed into the first puddle, her yellow, duck wellington boots. Cold water splashed like a waterfall across the wet pavement. Her dog, Zeus, ran on ahead. He loved the rain, and there was nothing like taking a walk to clear your mind.
Zeus, a Dachshund, ran around in circles, barking at her wellington boots.
Another puddle, another adventure.
Splash, splash, splash – the rain tumbles down, taking away the week’s worry. The ceiling might be falling down, the bills falling out of the letter box like a waterfall, but today was hers.
She could be a child again, enjoy the rain, the puddles, and perhaps a hot chocolate at the restaurant down the road. The last of the change in her savings bottle, but she needed today.
A day where two friends were celebrating the rain. Where two friends could take a break wearing duck wellies, and a bright yellow dog coat. Zeus let the puddle devour him, before running back to his owner.
She took a running leap and splashed – the water spraying around like a full length skirt. A rainbow of colours falling, she allowed it to wash all her troubles away. The same time next Sunday, and perhaps, if it wasn’t raining, she would feed the ducks.
Awe a darling story Diana! 🙂
