Garish cats lined the shelves with the precision of an expert archer. I walked through the porcelain creatures trying not to look them straight in the eye. It was only a few short centimetres to my grandmother’s room. I held on to my mother’s hands and hoped death wouldn’t follow me in.

So incredibly grateful, never forget that.’ ‘Come on now, you know I would do anything for you,’ Theresa said. ‘You deserve good things to happen to you and they will from now on.’ ‘I shouldn’t be imposing on youContinue reading “Friday Friend – A snippet from It Won’t Happen Again”
A New Beginning
Next week will be my last week at my job as a teaching assistant. I’m not sure what I want to do next. Is this the start I need to give my writing a chance? I’ve always wanting to write for a living, so what’s to stop me doing that now. My play will soonContinue reading “A New Beginning”
Word Prompt – Wing – Short Story #FOWC

Poem – Watching Over Me

Fandango’s Story Starter – Don’t you dare come any closer
Something in the darkness spoke. It was a quiet voice drifting over the lake like a phantom of my past. ‘Don’t come any closer.’ It said. I didn’t know if it was human, but I had heard it before. My hands reached out, but there was nothing there. At home in the dark, nothing fazedContinue reading “Fandango’s Story Starter – Don’t you dare come any closer”
My First Day – Poem by Diana Coombes
My First Day Stomping, screaming, shouting, clung to my mummies knee, I just want to go right home, will no-one hear my plea. Pouting, prising, parting, my mummy gone away, led gently to the bright room, and told I had to stay. Scanning, spying, spotting, a dolls house with a tree. Plastic plates and cups,Continue reading “My First Day – Poem by Diana Coombes”
